Class PR2 – Precision Rifle Optics & Ballistics
Are you looking to improve your precision long range rifle shooting skills, and need some help with utilizing your optics and ballistics to their maximum potential, then this class is for you!
This hands-on classroom session is intended to provide a review of key Optics & Ballistics fundamentals to include:
- Setting Up & Operating Optics: proper mounting, zeroing, supporting accessories
- Ballistics: calculating trajectories, environmental impacts, effective use of data
For this class you can bring your rifle, optics, and accessories for help with setup and the chance to practice with them. Please DO NOT bring any live ammunition into the classroom session.
This is the second class in the Openrange Precision Rifle series.
The other classes include:
Class PR1 – Intro to Precision Long Range Shooting: this classroom session will expose students to the world of Precision Long Range Shooting.
Class PR3a – Precision Rifle Prone & Bench Shooting Fundamentals: this classroom and range session will cover the fundamentals of shooting a rifle accurately at long ranges from a prone and bench position.
Class PR3b – Precision Rifle Positional Shooting Fundamentals: this classroom and range session will cover the fundamentals of shooting a rifle accurately at long ranges from an improvised position.
Class PR4a – Basic Precision Rifle Ammunition Reloading: this classroom session will cover the basic elements of reloading ammunition for precision long range rifle shooting.
Class PR4b – Advanced Precision Rifle Ammunition Reloading: this classroom session will cover the advanced elements of reloading ammunition for precision long range rifle shooting.
Mike Richardson has 8 years of active duty military service, and 22 years of public safety experience. He has been an avid competitive rifle shooter going back to the mid 1980s when he shot competitively on his JROTC rifle team. He is a graduate of multiple military and law enforcement shooting and sniper schools. Some of his professional affiliations include, US Army Sniper Association, American Sniper Association, National Tactical Officers Association, Kentucky Tactical Officers Association, and the National Rifle Association. He holds multiple national and state instructor certifications to include Department of Homeland Security Master Trainer and Multiple NRA disciplines. Currently, he competes in a number of different precision long range rifle shooting disciplines to include, NRA Highpower and F-Class where he holds a Master classification, and Tactical Rifle Matches where he has a number of top finishes and wins. He has spent the last 5 years as a Rifle Instructor for Openrange Sports teaching a number of classes to include; Intro to AR Rifles, AR Rifle Shooting, AR Rifle Armorer, and intro to Long Range Shooting. Given his 30 years of extensive training and experience, he is capable of handling all of your rifle training needs.
