Class PR3a – Precision Rifle Prone & Bench Shooting Fundamentals

Are you looking at improving your rifle shooting skills from the bench at the range, or from the prone position in the field, then this class is for you!

This hands-on classroom session is intended to provide an overview of rifle shooting fundamentals.

It will cover:
- Rifle Setup: fit to the shooter, fit with optics, utilizing accessories
- Position Key Concepts: front & rear rifle supports, body mechanics, recoil management
- Shooting Fundamentals: sight picture, breathing, trigger control, follow through

For the 2 hour classroom session you can bring your rifle and accessories for help with setup and the chance to practice with them. Please DO NOT bring any live ammunition into the classroom session.

Following the 2 hour classroom session, students will have the option to head out to the range for a 1 hour hands-on session and put some of what they have just learned into practice under the guidance of the instructor. PLEASE NOTE, the 1 hour of range time is included with the cost of the class.


This is the third class in the Openrange Precision Rifle series.

Class PR1 – Intro to Precision Long Range Shooting: this classroom session will expose students to the world of Precision Long Range Shooting.

Class PR3a – Precision Rifle Prone & Bench Shooting Fundamentals: this classroom and range session will cover the fundamentals of shooting a rifle accurately at long ranges from a prone and bench position.

Class PR3b – Precision Rifle Positional Shooting Fundamentals: this classroom and range session will cover the fundamentals of shooting a rifle accurately at long ranges from an improvised position.

Class PR4a – Basic Precision Rifle Ammunition Reloading: this classroom session will cover the basic elements of reloading ammunition for precision long range rifle shooting.

Class PR4b – Advanced Precision Rifle Ammunition Reloading: this classroom session will cover the advanced elements of reloading ammunition for precision long range rifle shooting.


INSTRUCTOR BIO
Mike Richardson has 8 years of active duty military service, and 22 years of public safety experience. He has been an avid competitive rifle shooter going back to the mid 1980s when he shot competitively on his JROTC rifle team. He is a graduate of multiple military and law enforcement shooting and sniper schools. Some of his professional affiliations include, US Army Sniper Association, American Sniper Association, National Tactical Officers Association, Kentucky Tactical Officers Association, and the National Rifle Association. He holds multiple national and state instructor certifications to include Department of Homeland Security Master Trainer and Multiple NRA disciplines. Currently, he competes in a number of different precision long range rifle shooting disciplines to include, NRA Highpower and F-Class where he holds a Master classification, and Tactical Rifle Matches where he has a number of top finishes and wins. He has spent the last 5 years as a Rifle Instructor for Openrange Sports teaching a number of classes to include; Intro to AR Rifles, AR Rifle Shooting, AR Rifle Armorer, and intro to Long Range Shooting. Given his 30 years of extensive training and experience, he is capable of handling all of your rifle training needs.
